This website documents my personal experience with Pearl Dental Los Angeles, Alex Boudaie, Alice Change and Jeanette V. All information on this site regarding Pearl Dental LA and its employees is publicly available. All information provide by myself is factual and documented. TL;DR
As of today, (10/27/2023), Pearl Dental Los Angeles has charged my credit card(s) a total of $1693.93 (updated on 9/26/23) for a dental visit on July 17, 2023 (refunds included). Initially they charged me $3289. I caught them trying to charge me for a procedure that I didn't agree to, so they refunded me $1200 immediately after my visit. Additionally they have received a total of $803.67 from my insurance provider. My patient share is $488.93, resulting in an overcharge of $1205. Pearl Dental LA is refusing to refund me any overcharges, claiming that "their records" show I am responsible for the overcharged amount. However, they refuse to explain what the additional charges are and has refused to send me a statement of my account. Updates
9/30/23 - I received an email from Pearl Dental saying "Our records show that your credit card payment did not go through and you currently have a balance of $1,316.89". Now they are claiming I have an unpaid balance?! To date, Pearl Dental has refused to send me a statement of my account, and has not explained what I am being charged for.
9/26/23 - I received an email from Jeanette V. saying that they received another insurance payment and they would be refunding me more money. I checked the amount of the refund and it was $210.96. So apparently, they JUST received a check from my insurance and Jeanette V. is still sticking to her statement "We will refund you the money that your insurance pays to us.". This is not the way insurance works...

Background/Context
Whoami: I am a normal person who happens to work a lot on the internet. I was looking for a honest dental practice in Los Angeles, California. I have a Yelp® account and realized that all the reviews that really mattered in regards to this dental practice were not given enough importance...so in addition to posting a review (coming, once the active cases are over), I built my own website. The Business: Pearl Dental Los Angeles is a dental practice in Los Angeles, California. Alex Boudaie, Alice Chang and Jeanette V. are the people who operate the two locations for this practice, located in El Segundo and Culver City. Alex Boudaie and Alice Chang are dentists. Jeanette V. is the "business manager" (according to Yelp®). "Pearl Dental" does not appear to be a registered business with the Secretary of State of California (huge red flag)..
The Ringleader: Alex Boudaie is a dentist in Los Angeles, California. and apparently the owner of the unregistered Pearl Dental Los Angeles. He is licensed under the Dental Board of California (License #61933) and his name can be found when searching for a dentist on the Delta Dental website. While he may be a good dentist, his tricky sales tactics and "secret" charges are highly documented on the Pearl Dental Yelp® page.
Lesson Learned: Beware of Pearl Dental LA, Alex Boudaie and Jeanette V. Their fraudulent practices when charging customers are well documented, albeit hidden, on Yelp® (fact). In addition, the positive reviews on the Pearl Dental Los Angeles website do not link to the actual original reviews (fact) so are not to be trusted (opinion).
